Definitely agree with sorting out insurance first thing—it's usually pretty straightforward. Just shop around online, compare quotes, and pick something affordable. Once you're covered, courts tend to be more lenient about payment plans for fines...been there myself, unfortunately.

Yeah, sorting insurance first definitely helps smooth things over with the court. But gotta say, it's not always as straightforward as just picking the cheapest quote online. Sometimes those super-cheap policies have sneaky exclusions or high deductibles that bite you later. I'd suggest taking an extra few minutes to actually read the fine print—boring, I know, but worth it. Learned that lesson after my first fender-bender...cheap isn't always cheerful, haha. Did the court give you a timeframe to get insured?

Yeah, those cheapo policies can be a real headache later on. Had a buddy who went dirt-cheap and ended up paying way more after an accident—lesson learned the hard way. Good you're sorting it now though, courts usually appreciate that effort. Hang in there...

Yeah, that's exactly why I always tell folks in my classic car group to double-check their coverage. Had a friend restoring a '68 Mustang who thought he'd save a few bucks with minimal insurance. Sure enough, someone rear-ended him at a stoplight, and the payout barely covered the bumper, let alone the custom paint job. Curious, did they give you any indication how much sorting it out beforehand might help your case?

Yeah, learned that lesson myself a while back. Had a minor fender-bender in my Audi—nothing major, just a cracked headlight and some scratches—but because I'd skimped on coverage, the out-of-pocket costs were brutal. Insurance barely covered anything, and I ended up paying way more than if I'd just gotten decent coverage from the start. Makes me wonder if insurers ever clearly explain how much hassle you can avoid by sorting it out properly beforehand...
