Yeah, comprehensive is definitely worth it, especially if your car's older or rare. Another one I kept was uninsured motorist coverage. Had a buddy whose classic got sideswiped by someone without insurance... nightmare to sort out. Made me realize how common it actually is, and it's not even that expensive to add. Also, roadside assistance surprised me—thought I'd never use it, but when my alternator went out on a weekend cruise, it saved me from a pricey tow bill. Guess I'm just cautious by nature, but these little extras have paid off more than once.

Glad you mentioned roadside assistance. I was debating whether to add it or not since I'm trying to keep costs down (first-time insurance buyer here, still figuring things out). But your story reminded me of when my sister's car battery died in the middle of nowhere last summer. She didn't have coverage and ended up paying a fortune for towing and repairs. Made me realize how quickly those unexpected expenses can pile up... definitely something I want to avoid.

I also appreciate the heads-up about uninsured motorist coverage. Honestly hadn't even thought about that one yet, but now it's on my radar. Guess being cautious pays off more often than not, huh? Thanks for sharing your experiences—really helpful for someone new to all this insurance stuff.

Yeah, roadside assistance is one of those things you think is pointless until you're stranded somewhere sketchy at 11pm. Happened to me a couple months ago—flat tire, no spare (thanks, modern car designers 🙄). Without that coverage, I'd have been stuck paying triple digits just to get home. Trust me, it’s worth the extra couple bucks each month for peace of mind.

Yeah, I get your point about roadside assistance being handy, but honestly, it depends on your driving habits and location. If you're mostly city-driving or have friends nearby who can help in a pinch, you might not need it. Still, I've seen enough claims where people regretted skipping that coverage—especially when they're stuck somewhere remote or late at night. It's one of those things that's easy to dismiss until you're the one stranded...then suddenly it feels like the best few bucks you've ever spent.

Totally agree with you there. Even in the city, it can be surprisingly easy to find yourself stranded—like when my battery died in a parking garage downtown late at night. Thankfully, roadside assistance got me sorted quickly...definitely worth the peace of mind.
