I used to think the same way—my old minivan’s not exactly a luxury ride, so why bother? But after my neighbor got into a fender bender and ended up owing way more than his policy covered, I started worrying about what would happen if kids were in the car or someone got hurt. Has anyone actually had to use their higher coverage? I’m curious if it really made a difference when things got messy.

Had a friend rear-end someone on the 405—nothing major at first, but the other driver ended up needing physical therapy. Their basic policy barely scratched the bills. I keep thinking, what if it was me and I had my niece in the back? Kinda makes you rethink “just enough” coverage, even if your ride’s not fancy.
