Nice breakdown, especially your point about specialty companies. I've noticed the bigger insurers sometimes treat classics like they're just regular used cars—frustrating when you've put so much into restoration. Agreed-value policies saved a buddy of mine big-time after a minor accident. Still curious though, did splitting your vehicles really end up cheaper? I've always bundled, but now you're making me rethink that... might have to run some quotes again.

I actually ran the numbers on splitting vs. bundling last year when my renewal came up. Bundling initially looked cheaper, but once I factored in the specialty coverage for my weekend classic separately, it flipped. Ended up saving about $120 annually by splitting them—nothing huge, but worth the effort. Definitely recommend running quotes both ways and comparing line-by-line coverage details... sometimes the savings hide in those little policy differences you wouldn't normally notice.

I did something similar last year, but my savings were more like $50... barely enough for a tank of gas these days, lol. Still, you're right about checking the details—my bundled policy looked great until I realized it didn't cover windshield replacements without a deductible. Learned that one the hard way after a rogue pebble decided to say hello on the freeway. Definitely pays to read the fine print!

Yeah, the fine print is always where they get you. I swear insurance companies have mastered the art of making policies look amazing at first glance, only to sneak in those little exceptions that bite you later. I've been burned enough times to become pretty skeptical whenever I see a deal that looks too good to be true.

A few years back, I switched insurers because they promised huge savings on bundled home and auto. And sure, the initial quote was great—until I had a minor fender bender in a parking lot. Turns out the deductible was higher than I'd realized, and suddenly those "big savings" vanished into thin air. Lesson learned: if it sounds like you're getting an incredible deal, double-check everything twice.

On the windshield thing, I've been there too. Had a tiny chip turn into a massive crack overnight during one of those random cold snaps we get here. Called up my insurer thinking it'd be covered without hassle... nope. Deductible kicked in, and I ended up paying almost the full cost myself anyway. After that, I started specifically asking about windshield coverage whenever shopping around. It's surprising how many companies don't include it automatically.

Still, I'm open-minded enough to believe there might actually be decent insurers out there—somewhere. Maybe you've found one? If so, congrats on navigating the maze successfully. But I'll admit, after years of dealing with these companies, I'm still waiting for one that doesn't eventually disappoint me somehow. Guess that's just part of car ownership these days...

I get your skepticism, but honestly I've had pretty good luck with specialty insurers that handle classic cars. Regular companies tend to lump everything together, but niche insurers often have clearer terms and better customer service in my experience. Had a windshield issue on my '68 Mustang last year, and it was covered without any fuss. Might be worth checking into specialized coverage if you're tired of the usual runaround.
