finally found an insurance company in CA that doesn't drive me nuts
Had something similar happen a couple years back. Got rear-ended at a stoplight - nothing major, just a cracked bumper and some paint scuffs. Insurance wanted me to document every angle imaginable, even asked for close-ups of the tire tread (seriously?). After sending a few pics, I finally just called them up and politely said I wasn't filming a documentary here. They laughed, apologized, and wrapped things up pretty quick after that. Sometimes just being straightforward and friendly does the trick...
"Insurance wanted me to document every angle imaginable, even asked for close-ups of the tire tread (seriously?)."
Haha, tire tread pics? That's a new one for me. I've dealt with my fair share of insurance claims over the years, and honestly, it seems like every company has its quirks. One time, after a minor fender-bender, they asked me to measure the depth of a dent with a ruler - like I'm some kind of forensic investigator. I humored them at first, but eventually just called and asked if they really needed CSI-level evidence for a parking lot scrape. Surprisingly, they backed off pretty quick.
I think you're onto something about being straightforward and friendly. Insurance reps probably get tired of the runaround too, so cutting through the nonsense politely can save everyone some headaches. Still, I'm skeptical about finding any insurance company that's completely hassle-free... but hey, if you've found one that's at least reasonable, hold onto them tight.

Haha, measuring dent depth with a ruler is next-level picky. Reminds me of when my insurance asked for pics of my windshield wiper blades after a rear-end collision... like, what exactly were they expecting to find there? Sometimes I wonder if it's just random hoops to jump through.
Haha, I get why it seems random, but there's usually some logic behind the madness. Insurance companies often ask for seemingly unrelated details because they're trying to rule out pre-existing damage or fraudulent claims. Still, windshield wiper blades after a rear-end collision is pushing it... maybe someone in claims was having an overly cautious day. Either way, glad you finally found a company that's less of a headache - good ones do exist, believe it or not.
Maybe it's just me, but I'd rather deal with a little extra hassle if it means lower premiums. Sure, weird questions can be annoying...but if it keeps my monthly bill down, I'll put up with it.
