Yeah, classic car insurance can be tricky if you're actually using the car regularly. I looked into it for my older Jeep once, but same issue—too restrictive. Might be worth checking out usage-based policies instead...saved me a decent chunk without all those hoops to jump through.

I ran into something similar with my old BMW. Thought I'd be clever and snag classic insurance to save a few bucks, but nope...they wanted it garaged 24/7 and barely driven. Not exactly ideal when you're trying to enjoy the Alaskan summer roads, right? Ended up switching to a mileage-based policy—way more flexible, and honestly, the savings weren't half bad either. Might be worth a look if you're in the same boat.

Had a similar issue with my Subaru Outback. Thought I'd score a deal with a limited-use policy because I mostly commute short distances, but turns out they had strict mileage caps and penalties if you go over. Not exactly ideal when you're commuting daily and occasionally sneaking off for weekend hikes around Anchorage... Ended up finding a provider that gave discounts based on driving habits tracked via app—felt weird at first, but the savings were legit and no mileage anxiety. Worth checking out if you're comfortable with the idea.

Had a similar experience when I first got my Civic. Thought I'd be clever and go for one of those mileage-based policies since I mostly just drive to class and work. But then summer hit, and suddenly I was road-tripping down to Seward or Homer every other weekend... those mileage penalties added up fast. Switched to one of those app-tracking deals too—felt kinda sketchy at first, like having someone watch over your shoulder, but honestly, after a month I forgot it was even there. Plus, turns out I'm a pretty boring driver, so the discounts were solid. Definitely beats stressing about mileage caps every time you wanna hit the road.

Yeah, those apps can be decent, but keep in mind they penalize stuff like nighttime driving or sudden braking. If you're regularly cruising down to Homer, wildlife or sudden weather might ding you unfairly... just something to think about.
