I get wanting to talk to a real person, but man, I’ve had some local agents try to sell me every add-on under the sun. One guy tried to convince me my ‘72 Chevelle needed “comprehensive roadside ballet coverage”—whatever that means. I actually had better luck with the online quotes, believe it or not. At least the computer didn’t try to upsell me fuzzy dice insurance. Still, you’re right, comparing quotes is a headache... but hey, at least it keeps things interesting.

That got a laugh out of me. I had a guy try to tack on “concierge detailing” for my S-Class once—as if I don’t already baby that car myself. Honestly, online quotes are less pushy, but I’ve noticed they sometimes miss the nuance for higher-value vehicles. Had to call around anyway to make sure they’d cover OEM parts. It’s a trade-off... less sales pitch, but more double-checking on the details.

Yeah, those online quotes are convenient, but I’ve seen them lowball coverage for pricier cars too. Had a friend with a Tesla get quoted peanuts, then the fine print excluded OEM glass. Sometimes you really do have to pick up the phone... annoying, but worth it.

Had a similar thing happen with my old BMW—online quote looked great, but when I dug into the details, it was missing a bunch of stuff I actually needed. Ended up spending an hour on the phone just to get straight answers. Not fun, but better than getting burned later.

I get wanting to talk to a real person, but honestly, I’ve had better luck sticking with online quotes and just double-checking the coverage details myself. Here’s why I’m a little wary of phone calls:

- Agents sometimes try to upsell stuff I don’t need, or they gloss over cheaper options.
- It’s way easier to compare side-by-side online, especially if you’re juggling a few companies.
- I’ve caught mistakes in the paperwork after a call—at least online, I can screenshot everything.

That said, I do get nervous about missing fine print. I usually take a few extra minutes to read through the policy docs before clicking “buy.” Feels less stressful than being on the phone, personally. Maybe it’s just me, but I’d rather avoid the back-and-forth unless I hit a real snag. Guess it depends on how much you trust the online process...
