"Had a minor fender-bender last year, and let's just say the replacement parts weren't exactly OEM quality..."

Yeah, I feel this. AAA was decent for me until I got flagged as "high-risk" (long story, don't ask lol). Suddenly, premiums shot up and service tanked. Erie seems promising though...might give 'em a shot.

I'm actually shopping around for my first insurance policy right now, and this thread is making me a bit wary of AAA. I've heard good things from family members, but maybe that's outdated info?

This is exactly what I'm worried aboutβ€”signing up with a company that seems solid at first, then getting blindsided later. Erie sounds interesting, but honestly, every insurer seems to have mixed reviews. My cousin swears by Progressive, yet my coworker had a nightmare experience with them after a minor accident. Feels like a gamble no matter who you pick...

Guess I'll just have to bite the bullet and see how it goes. Thanks for sharing your experiences though, helps to know what I'm potentially getting into.

I've handled claims involving AAA, Erie, Progressiveβ€”you name itβ€”and honestly, every insurer has ups and downs. Had AAA myself for years; premiums did creep up eventually, but claims were straightforward. Just keep an eye on renewal notices and shop around periodically.

Had a different experience myself. AAA was alright at first, but when I upgraded to my current car (luxury brand), their premiums shot up disproportionately. Claims were smooth enough, sure, but the price hikes felt excessive compared to competitors. Ended up switching to a specialty insurer for high-end vehiclesβ€”better coverage and surprisingly lower rates. So yeah, shopping around periodically is solid advice, but don't overlook specialized providers if you're driving something pricier...

Yeah, specialty insurers can be a hidden gem sometimes. AAA's solid for everyday cars, but once you step into luxury territory, their pricing models don't always keep up. Good call shopping around!
