I've been down that road with Good Sam too, and honestly, their regular car coverage felt pretty limited compared to their RV stuff. AAA isn't perfect either, but at least their towing radius is usually more generous. I'd double-check the fine print before switching...

Yeah, I totally get where you're coming from. AAA definitely has its quirks, but honestly, they've saved my butt more times than I care to admit (high-risk driver here, ha). Had a pretty sketchy breakdown last year outside town, and their towing radius made all the difference—Good Sam wouldn't have even covered half the distance. You're right about checking the fine print though...always pays off to know exactly what you're getting into before jumping ship.

Yeah, that's a good point about the towing radius. I've had AAA for years, mostly because of my old classics—trust me, vintage cars have a way of picking the absolute worst times to act up. A few summers back, I was driving my '68 Mustang to a car show about 80 miles from home. Of course, halfway there, the alternator decided it was done for the day. Middle of nowhere, sun blazing, and me stuck on the side of the road with a car that looked way better than it ran at that moment.

Called AAA, and honestly, they came through pretty quickly. The driver even knew a bit about classics, which was a nice bonus. He was careful loading her up, and we got back home without a scratch. But I do agree with you guys—AAA isn't perfect. I've noticed their response times can vary a lot depending on where you are and what time it is. Had another incident where I waited nearly two hours because they were slammed with calls.

Also, you're spot-on about reading the fine print. A buddy of mine switched to another roadside assistance provider because it was cheaper, only to find out later that they had strict mileage limits and wouldn't cover his tow fully when his '72 Chevelle broke down on a road trip. Ended up costing him way more out-of-pocket than if he'd just stuck with AAA.

So yeah, AAA has its quirks and isn't exactly what it used to be in some ways, but for someone like me who regularly drives older cars that can be temperamental, it's still been worth it overall. Just gotta know exactly what you're signing up for...

That's a good breakdown of the pros and cons. AAA can definitely be hit or miss depending on your location and timing. Have you checked if your auto insurance offers roadside assistance as an add-on? Sometimes bundling it that way can give you better mileage coverage or quicker response times. Worth looking into, especially if you're regularly driving classics or older vehicles—those unexpected breakdowns can get pricey fast...

I've thought about bundling roadside assistance with my auto insurance, but does it really offer better coverage or quicker response times? I mean, insurance companies aren't exactly known for speedy customer service... Plus, wouldn't relying on your insurer for roadside assistance potentially raise your premiums if you use it too often? I've always been a bit wary of mixing those two things together—feels like it could backfire. Has anyone actually had good experiences going that route?
