"AAA might've slipped in quality a bit, but at least they're predictable."
Yeah, that's pretty much how I feel too. I've been with AAA for years, and while they're not perfect, at least I know what I'm getting. Had a minor fender-bender last year, and honestly, the claims process was straightforward enoughβno surprises or headaches. I've heard some horror stories from friends who switched to smaller insurers to save a few bucks, only to find out the hard way that cheaper premiums meant jumping through hoops when something actually happened.
I do think part of the frustration might be expectations creeping up over time. We get used to a certain level of service, and when things dip even slightly, it feels like a bigger deal than it probably is. Still, it's always smart to keep an eye out and check reviews regularly...you never know when a company's standards might genuinely start slipping.
I've noticed similar stuff recently. Had to call AAA for a flat tire a few months backβtook longer than usual, but still got sorted without much trouble. Like you said:
"at least I know what I'm getting."
Predictable beats surprises when you're stuck roadside, imo.
Had a similar experience last winterβbattery died unexpectedly in the grocery store parking lot. AAA took about an hour and a half, longer than usual, but the guy who showed up was professional and got me going again quick. Honestly, even though it felt slower than before, I'd rather wait a bit knowing exactly what I'm paying for than gamble on some random local service...especially with my car being pricey to maintain.
Yeah, AAA's gotten slower lately, but still beats rolling the dice with random tow guys. Had a local dude scratch my classic's bumper once... never again. I'll take the wait.
I've noticed AAA slowing down too, but do you think it's just a regional thing or nationwide? Had a buddy in another state say they're still pretty quick out there. Also, curiousβdid the local guy at least own up to scratching your bumper, or did he try to play it off? I've had mixed experiences with independent tow guys... some are gems, others, well, let's just say I wouldn't trust them with my lawn mower.
