Interesting... I'm usually skeptical about these newer apps (old-school AAA guy here), but if they're actually quicker, might be worth a try.
I get the hesitation, especially with a classic like your Mustang. But if these apps really are quicker, could it be worth trying out on something less precious firstβmaybe the daily driverβto test reliability before trusting them fully?
I see your point about testing on a daily driver first, but wouldn't the real test be how these apps handle more complicated situations? Like, sure, they're quick for a flat tire or jump-start, but what about when you're stuck somewhere remote or need specialized towing? AAA's network might still have the edge there, even if their response times aren't what they used to be. Just something to consider before jumping ship entirely...
Yeah, good point about specialized towing. I once got stuck on a muddy backroad during a camping tripβtrust me, no app was gonna save me there. AAA took forever, but at least they showed up with the right gear. Apps are handy for quick fixes, but when things get messy, AAA still feels like the safer bet... even if they're slower than my grandma driving uphill.
"AAA took forever, but at least they showed up with the right gear."
Did they really have the right gear though? Last winter, I slid off an icy road and called AAA thinking they'd handle it easily. Guy shows up in a regular tow truck, no chains or anything special. Ended up waiting another hour for backup. Apps might be limited, but is AAA really that reliable anymore if they're not consistently prepared? Feels like it's hit or miss lately...
Ended up waiting another hour for backup.
I've noticed something similar lately. AAA used to be my go-to, but recently their response times and preparedness seem inconsistent. Maybe it's regional or depends on the contracted tow companies they use? Curious if others have experienced this too...
