Yeah, I hear you. Last winter my truck died in a grocery store parking lot, and I figured AAA would have me out of there in no time. Ended up waiting almost three hours, and when the guy finally showed up, he looked just as annoyed as I was. Used to be you could count on them, but now it feels like a coin toss. Maybe they’re just stretched too thin, or maybe it’s all the new “features” slowing things down. Either way, it’s not what it used to be.

Had a similar thing happen last fall—battery died at my kid’s soccer game. I figured, step one: call AAA, step two: wait maybe 30-40 minutes, step three: back on the road. Instead, it was almost two hours before anyone showed up. I started tracking the ETA updates in their app and noticed it kept jumping around, which was frustrating. Not sure if it’s staffing or tech issues, but it’s definitely not as reliable as it used to be. I still keep the membership for emergencies, but I’ve started carrying jumper cables and a portable charger just in case.
Yeah, I’ve noticed the same thing lately. Last summer, my car overheated on a road trip in the middle of nowhere. Figured AAA would be my lifeline, but it took them almost three hours to get someone out. Good thing I had snacks and water in the trunk... Now I always double-check my spare and keep a basic tool kit handy. Used to feel like AAA was a sure bet, but now I treat it more like a backup plan than my first line of defense.
I’ve been wondering if the delays are worse in certain areas or just everywhere now. Was your wait because you were really remote, or do you think it’s just slower overall? I’m in a city and even then, the last time I called, it took almost two hours…

Honestly, I don’t think location matters much anymore. I’m not remote at all—just outside a major metro—and still waited over an hour for a simple tow last month. Used to be you’d get someone out in 30-40 minutes tops. Feels like they’re just stretched thin everywhere now, not just rural spots. Maybe too many people signed up and they can’t keep up? Either way, it’s not what it used to be.
