RE: Does comprehensive coverage include water-damaged tools and building materials?
Coverage for tools and materials away from the residence can turn on the homeowners or renters policy’s off-premises personal-property wording, not just whether the items were for personal home improvement. Limits, deduc...
RE: Does comprehensive coverage include water-damaged tools and building materials?
Since the vehicle’s comprehensive coverage may only address the vehicle itself, could the policyholder ask the insurer to confirm in writing where the tools and materials would fall before filing a claim? It’d be useful ...
RE: Trading lower premiums for higher risk - worth it?
I get where you’re coming from, but honestly, I’m just too nervous to go with a high deductible. I remember my cousin did the same thing - picked the cheapest plan, then got rear-ended a month later. She had to pay almos...
RE: Shelter vs. State Farm for home insurance in Missouri - any strong opinions?
I kinda get nervous about “budget” options too, but my parents had Shelter for years and never had issues with claims. When I started driving, they made me read the fine print on everything... turns out coverage details ...
RE: Do I really need extra insurance when renting a car in VA?
Honestly, I get where you’re coming from, but I’m always the one who ends up paying for the extra coverage. Maybe it’s just my luck, but the one time I didn’t, someone sideswiped my rental in a parking lot and took off. ...
RE: Would you risk a higher deductible to lower your insurance bill?
I’ve definitely thought about the “could I actually pay this if something happened?” part. My car’s not new, but it’s not a total beater either, so I keep going back and forth. I remember my cousin went with a super high...
RE: Getting caught without car insurance in Iowa is no joke
Honestly, I get nervous just thinking about not having the right paperwork on me. My instructor drilled it into us - if you get pulled over and can’t hand over a paper copy, it can get complicated fast, especially in pla...
RE: Getting caught without car insurance in Iowa is no joke
I get why paper backups are handy, but I’m always paranoid I’ll lose it or it’ll get wrecked beyond recognition. My instructor drilled into us that digital is best - like, if my phone’s charged up, I can pull up insuranc...
RE: Letting friends drive your car in MN: better to add them or rely on permissive use?
That’s exactly how it feels to me, honestly. I had a friend borrow my car for a weekend trip once, and I spent the whole time stressing about what would happen if something went wrong. I know “permissive use” is supposed...
RE: Digital Forms Vs. Old-School Paper: Which Makes Claims Smoother?
Had a similar thing happen during my driving test, actually. I had all my documents on my phone, but the app glitched right as I needed to show proof of insurance. Ended up scrambling for a paper copy in my bag. Ever sin...
RE: Finally figured out how not to overpay for insurance
I totally feel you on the “peace of mind” thing. I just started driving last year and my parents insisted I go with a plan that had all these extras, even though I thought it was overkill. Then my car battery died after ...
RE: When Does It Make Sense to Drop the “All-In” Coverage?
I totally get the “gambling” feeling you mentioned. I’m still on my first car (not fancy, but it gets me around), and I keep thinking about hail damage since we get those freak storms here. My uncle dropped comprehensiv...
RE: Rising premiums for business vehicle fleets - anyone else notice this?
I get where you’re coming from, but sometimes I wonder if “risk” gets tossed around a bit too loosely. I’m still pretty new to all this, but I’ve noticed that even minor things - like a cracked windshield - can suddenly ...
RE: Insurance paid way less than what it cost me to replace my roof
I totally get the frustration. I had a fender bender last year - barely a scratch, but the insurance company wanted like ten different photos and still tried to say it was “pre-existing.” Ever since, I take pics of my ca...
RE: Are those price-checker sites actually reliable?
Yeah, I’ve had that happen too - thought I was getting a sweet deal on brake pads, then got hit with “shop supplies” and some random “disposal fee.” Now I always double-check before committing. The “premium valve stems” ...
