Just moved to Wisconsin from Illinois a few months ago, and my car insurance premium jumped way higher than I expected. Same car, same driving record, nothing else changed except my address. Kinda scratching my head here, because I thought Wisconsin would be cheaper or at least similar to Illinois.
I talked briefly with my agent, and he mentioned something vague about location-specific stuff like weather, deer collisions (seriously?), and state regulations affecting rates. But honestly, it seemed a bit fuzzy to me. Like, does living near Milwaukee or Madison make that big of a difference compared to smaller towns? Or is it more about statewide stuff like harsh winters or whatever?
If anyone else has experienced this after moving states or even just within Wisconsin itself, I'd love to hear how you figured it out or if there's anything I can do to lower the cost a bit. Feels kinda unfair, you know?
