how much does one little fender-bender really raise your insurance?

I just read somewhere that even a minor accident can bump your car insurance premium up by like 30% or more, depending on your state and insurer. That seems kinda steep for something small, doesn't it? I mean, I get it if you're constantly crashing into stuff, but one little scrape or dent...ouch. Curious if this matches what other people have experienced or heard about.

Yeah, that's pretty much spot-on. Had a tiny scrape backing out of a tight parking spot last yearβ€”barely noticeable damage, honestlyβ€”and my premium jumped about 25%. Felt like daylight robbery for something so minor. Insurance companies don't care if it's a scratch or a smashed bumper; to them, you're suddenly "higher risk." It's frustrating, but that's how they play the game...
