I’ve been using Milewise from Allstate for about a year now, and honestly, it’s been a game changer for my budget. I drive to work and back most days, but I’m not racking up crazy miles, so paying by the mile just makes sense. I get the concerns about the tech being a little too “judgy”—I’ve had it ding me for hard braking when someone cut me off out of nowhere. Annoying, but honestly, I’d rather deal with that than pay a flat rate for miles I’m not even driving.
As for privacy, I mean...my phone already knows where I am 24/7. If Allstate wants to know I went to Target three times in one week, that’s on them. The savings have outweighed any weirdness for me. Traditional insurance always felt like I was subsidizing people who drive way more than I do. At least this way, it feels fairer—even if the tech isn’t perfect.
