Rental car after accident was a lifesaver, anyone else had this?

Used to feel the same way about rental coverage until I started processing claims and saw firsthand how quickly things spiral without it. Had a client last month whose car repairs dragged out for two weeks due to parts delays—she thought she'd manage fine at first, but by day three she was desperate for a rental. Between juggling kids, work, and errands, ridesharing fees piled up crazy fast. Definitely shifted my perspective seeing that unfold... hindsight's always 20/20, huh?

I get the logic behind rental coverage, but honestly I've always been skeptical about it. Figured it was just another upsell from insurance companies. But your story does make me pause a bit... I mean, two weeks without a car sounds rough, especially with kids in the mix.

Had a minor fender-bender last year—nothing serious, just cosmetic stuff—but even then repairs took longer than expected. Luckily, I had another car at home to fall back on. If I'd been stuck relying on Uber or Lyft every day, my wallet would've definitely felt it. Those rides add up quicker than you'd think.

Still not totally convinced it's worth paying extra every month for something I might never use, but your example makes me reconsider at least a little. Maybe it's one of those things you don't appreciate until you're actually in that situation? Guess I'll have to weigh the odds and see if peace of mind is worth the extra cash...
