Had a bit of a fender-bender last month (well, more than a bit actually, car was totaled 🙄). Anyway, my insurance included rental coverage and honestly, it saved my sanity. Took a couple weeks to sort things out, and without the rental, I'd have been stuck bumming rides or Ubering everywhere. Curious if anyone else had a similar experience—was your rental coverage actually useful or kind of a hassle?

Yeah, rental coverage is one of those things you hope you never need but you're super glad it's there when you do. Had a minor scrape last year—nothing as serious as yours—but still took forever to fix. Having the rental kept me from stressing too much about getting around...definitely worth it.

Had a similar experience last summer when someone backed into my SUV at the grocery store. Damage wasn't major, but the repair shop was booked solid and took nearly two weeks to get it sorted. With kids and errands, being without wheels would've been a nightmare. Rental coverage was a huge relief—kept our routine mostly intact and saved me from juggling rides or borrowing cars. It's one of those coverages you don't really think about until you're stuck needing it, then you're suddenly grateful it's on your policy. Glad yours worked out smoothly too.

Had a similar experience myself a while back when my sedan got rear-ended at a stoplight. Wasn't much damage, but the shop needed about ten days to finish repairs. I'd always casually recommended rental coverage to others, but honestly hadn't paid much attention to my own policy until then.

Here's how it played out: first, I called my insurance and confirmed coverage—they set me up with a rental reservation right away, which was a relief. Then, dropped my car off at the shop and picked up the rental the same day. Pretty seamless overall, and definitely saved me from scrambling to arrange rides or Uber everywhere.

It's funny, you never realize how much you rely on your car till it's suddenly out of commission...glad I had that coverage in place. Sounds like most of us here had pretty smooth experiences, but I've seen some folks struggle when they skip that option. Always worth double-checking your policy details once in a while—just in case.

Honestly, I'd been skeptical about rental coverage for years—always felt like another upsell from insurance companies. But after my alternator died unexpectedly last winter, leaving me stranded and carless for nearly a week, I reconsidered. Borrowing rides got old fast, and Uber costs added up quicker than I expected. Now I'm thinking rental coverage might actually be worth it, especially after reading these experiences. Guess sometimes you only appreciate something once you're stuck without it...
