Can routine service records show better pre-loss condition?
If comparable vehicles are close in age and mileage, how much can maintenance documentation actually help with a total-loss ACV valuation dispute?
I’m curious which records are most useful for showing the vehicle’s condition right before the loss. Would inspection notes or records of recent repairs matter more than routine oil changes and scheduled service? I’d also like to understand how insurers separate maintenance that supports condition from ordinary wear, or from optional equipment that may be considered separately.
How would you present relevant records so they’re considered without assuming they’ll change the valuation?

The presentation matters: I’d group records by the specific pre-loss condition they document and include the dated invoice or inspection note with each. A recent repair can show that a particular component was replaced; oil-change receipts mostly show service history. That makes it easier to see why a record is relevant without implying that it automatically adds the repair cost or raises the ACV.
