- Honestly, I’ve wondered about the glove box thing too. Feels like leaving docs in the car is just asking for them to get stolen or ruined—like your latte story, but with bonus theft risk.
- I tried keeping a folder at home, but then I never have it when I actually need it. Last time I got rear-ended, all my stuff was on my phone, but then my battery died while waiting for the tow truck. Ended up scribbling notes on a napkin. Not ideal.
- About insurance—has anyone had them *demand* originals? My friend swears they wouldn’t take her digital docs after a fender bender, but mine were fine with emailed scans. Maybe it depends on the company or adjuster?
- What about cloud storage? Is it safer to just keep scanned copies in Google Drive or something? Or is that risky if you’re worried about hacking?
- Does anyone actually print out backup copies just in case, or is that overkill? I can’t tell if I’m being paranoid or just prepared...

I get the paranoia about leaving stuff in the glove box—especially with older cars, locks aren’t exactly Fort Knox. But I’ve had insurance folks insist on seeing the actual paper registration before, not just a photo. Maybe it’s an old-school thing, or maybe they’re just picky? I do keep a printed copy tucked behind my sun visor, just in case tech fails me. Anyone else run into issues with classic car policies being even more strict about originals? Sometimes feels like they’re stuck in the ‘80s...

Paper copies are still king with some of these classic car insurers. I had a guy from Hagerty flat-out refuse my phone screenshot—wouldn’t even look at it. Here’s what I do: 1) keep the original in a zip bag under the seat, 2) stash a photocopy in the trunk, 3) digital backup on my phone. Sounds paranoid, but I’ve been burned before. Honestly, glove box is the first place thieves check. Sun visor’s not much better, but at least it’s not as obvious.

I hear you on the paranoia—been there. I once had a cop in rural Nevada insist on seeing the original registration, wouldn’t even glance at my phone. Since then, I keep the paper tucked behind the fuse box (not obvious, but easy for me to grab). Digital’s great until you’re dealing with folks who just won’t accept it. Guess I’d rather be over-prepared than stuck arguing on the side of the road...

That’s the thing—digital is slick until it isn’t. I’ve had insurance adjusters insist on “the original” paperwork too, even though their own app says digital is fine. It’s like some people just don’t trust screens. I keep a folder in my glove box with every doc printed out, just in case. Overkill? Maybe, but I’d rather look a little old-school than risk getting stranded because someone’s having a bad day or doesn’t trust tech.
