"feeling respected when filing a claim is huge"
Totally agree with this. I'm still new to driving (and insurance 😅), but when my brother had his first accident, the difference between companies was night and day. Rates matter, sure, but having someone who doesn't make you feel clueless...that's priceless. Good luck!
Respect is important, yeah...but honestly, when I had my first accident, saving money was way more critical. I went with the cheaper option (Farm Bureau at the time), and even though their customer service wasn't exactly warm and fuzzy, they handled things efficiently enough. Guess it depends—would you rather pay extra for comfort or keep some cash in your pocket? I'm still figuring that out myself...

Yeah, that's always the tough part. I've been with State Farm for a while, and honestly, they're fine—nothing amazing, but decent enough. But lately, with prices creeping up, I'm starting to wonder if that "comfort" is really worth it. Might be time to give Farm Bureau another look...customer service doesn't have to feel like a hug as long as they get the job done without emptying my wallet, y'know?
I've handled claims involving both companies, and honestly, they're both pretty solid when it comes to actually paying out. State Farm tends to be quicker on the paperwork side, but Farm Bureau isn't far behind and usually offers better rates. If you're not calling your agent every other week, paying extra for that "comfort" might not make sense. I'd lean toward saving the cash—after all, comfort doesn't pay the bills...or buy pizza on Friday nights.
- Had both for my cars over the years, including my current ride (which isn’t exactly cheap to fix).
- State Farm did move faster when I had a windshield claim, but Farm Bureau’s rate was way better for my policy.
- For me, the “comfort” factor only matters if you’re dealing with rare or high-value vehicles—sometimes you want that extra hand-holding.
- Curious—has anyone had issues with specialty parts or repairs? That’s where I’ve seen some companies drop the ball.
