I learned the hard way to always double-check my policy after a similar incident. Borrowed my sister's car for a quick grocery run, and someone backed into me in the parking lot—just a minor dent, but still cost me a couple hundred bucks out of pocket because my regular insurance didn't cover borrowed vehicles. Now I always skim through my policy or call my agent beforehand. Temporary coverage can be worth it, but honestly, sometimes your credit card perks or rental company's own coverage does the trick without extra hassle.

Temporary coverage can be useful, but honestly, it's situational. If you're borrowing a car regularly or for longer trips, it might make sense. But for quick errands, like your grocery run, it often feels like overkill. I've found that checking with my credit card company first usually covers me adequately without extra fees. Still, always better safe than sorry—insurance fine print can be tricky, and assumptions can get expensive fast.

Totally get where you're coming from. I remember borrowing my brother's car for a weekend trip once and debated temporary coverage forever. Ended up getting it, and while nothing happened (thank goodness), the peace of mind was worth the few extra bucks. But yeah, for quick errands or short drives, it does feel like throwing money away. Smart move checking with your credit card first—I never even thought of that. Guess I'll be reading some fine print tonight, haha...

I've always skipped temporary coverage tbh. If you're careful and it's just a short drive, feels like overkill. But now you got me thinking about the credit card thing...might have to double-check mine too.

I've always been cautious about skipping temp coverage, personally. A couple quick thoughts:

- Even careful drivers can't control everything—had a buddy get rear-ended literally pulling out of his driveway (bad luck or what?).
- Credit card coverage can be sneaky with fine print. Mine had some weird exclusions about vehicle type and rental duration...definitely worth a second glance.
- For short drives it might seem overkill, but peace of mind counts too.

Anyway, better safe than sorry, right?
