"Still, when you're young and broke, every dollar counts...so I keep it running anyway."
Yeah, totally get that. Honestly, 5-10% might not sound like much, but when you're filling up your tank every week, it adds up quicker than you'd think. I tried one of those apps for a while too—didn't love the idea of being tracked everywhere—but hey, if it helps shave off even a few bucks each month, why not? Adulting is basically just stacking small wins anyway...
"Adulting is basically just stacking small wins anyway..."
Haha, isn't that the truth? Speaking of stacking small wins, have you checked if your insurance has a good student discount or defensive driving class discount? I know it sounds kinda lame, but hear me out...I took one of those online defensive driving courses last year—mostly to clear a speeding ticket (oops)—but turns out it shaved a decent chunk off my premium too. Who knew my questionable driving habits would actually save me cash in the end?
Also, about those tracking apps—I feel ya on the privacy thing. But honestly, most insurance companies don't really care if you're grabbing late-night tacos or binge-shopping at Target...they're mostly looking at how hard you brake or accelerate. Still creepy? Maybe. Worth it for cheaper premiums? Probably.
At the end of the day, saving a few bucks here and there does add up. Plus, it's always fun explaining to friends why you're suddenly driving like a cautious grandma.
Does anyone know if those defensive driving courses are a one-time discount or do you have to retake them every few years? Seems like a decent trade-off, but I'm not sure I'd wanna sit through it repeatedly just to save a few bucks...

Yeah, I hear ya... anyone know if the discount amount stays the same each time, or does it shrink after you've done it once already?
Pretty sure the discount stays consistent each renewal, at least from what I've seen. But honestly, even if it shrinks a bit, it's still worth it—especially when you're young and premiums are sky-high. Plus, refresher courses never hurt anyone...
