Randomly found out today that some places actually check your GPA before giving you a student discount. Like, I thought just being enrolled was enough, but apparently good grades can get you better deals. Anyone else heard of this or is it just me?
Yeah, ran into this last year when my niece tried getting a discount on her car insurance. They actually asked for her transcript... seemed weirdly invasive, but saved us a decent chunk of money. Guess grades matter more than we thought.
Had no idea grades could impact insurance discounts until I started shopping around myself. Honestly though, it feels kinda unfair—like, what if you're a solid driver but just not great at algebra or history? My buddy barely scraped by in school but he's way more cautious behind the wheel than some honor roll kids I know. Seems like a weird metric to judge driving risk on... but hey, if it saves money, guess I can't complain too much.
I ran into the same thing when I first got insurance. My grades were decent enough, but honestly, I was a way better driver than student. Felt a bit weird that my algebra scores mattered more than my actual driving habits. Still, insurance companies love their stats and apparently good grades correlate with lower risk somehow... Go figure. Anyway, saved me a few bucks, so I guess I'll take it.
