Yeah, totally get that. Had a similar issue once on a road trip—phone overheated and shut down. Ever since, I stash a paper copy just in case. Classics or not, tech can fail anytime.

Been there, done that—got pulled over once with a dead phone and no paper insurance. Cop wasn't amused. Now I keep a printed copy in the glovebox...tech's handy, but paper won't crash or overheat.

Yeah, learned that lesson myself. Ever had your phone freeze right when you need it most? Happened to me at a checkpoint once—talk about bad timing. Now I stash a printed copy too, just in case. Seems old-school, but better safe than sorry, right? Glad you didn't get into bigger trouble though... cops around here can be pretty strict about paperwork.

Yeah, tech definitely has its moments... but if you're ever unsure about what's required in South Dakota, here's a quick rundown to keep you covered: First, always have proof of insurance—digital is accepted, but like you mentioned, paper backup's smart. Second, make sure your policy meets SD's minimum coverage limits (25/50/25 for liability). Lastly, double-check your expiration dates regularly. Sounds basic, but you'd be surprised how many folks overlook it and get stuck at checkpoints. Better safe than ticketed, right?

Totally agree on the expiration date thing—seen way too many headaches from that. Also, anyone else notice how easy it is to forget updating your address with your insurer after moving? Seems minor, but it can cause some real confusion if you ever need to file a claim...
