Yeah, learned that the hard way myself when my phone battery died mid-trip. Digital's great until tech decides to bail on you. Paper backup's a no-brainer—takes seconds and saves a ton of stress down the road.

Yeah, exactly... makes me wonder, though—does South Dakota accept digital insurance cards officially, or is paper still mandatory there? I've heard some states are picky about that. Anyone know for sure?

South Dakota definitely accepts digital insurance cards officially, but honestly... I'd still keep a paper backup handy. I once had my phone randomly shut down during a traffic stop (perfect timing, right?), and fumbling around trying to reboot it while the officer waited wasn't exactly fun. Tech's great when it works, but having that physical copy tucked in your glovebox can save you some awkward moments. Better safe than sorry, you know?

Had a similar experience once—my phone decided to update itself right when I needed to show proof of insurance. Officer was cool about it, but lesson learned: paper copy stays in the glovebox now. Ever had issues with digital docs during car rentals too?

Been there, done that. My phone didn't update, but the app decided it was the perfect moment to log me out and forget my password. Standing there fumbling around trying to reset it with a cop staring at me like "really, dude?" was peak awkwardness. Luckily, he had a sense of humor and just shook his head while I struggled.

As for car rentals... digital docs have been hit or miss for me. One time, the rental place's Wi-Fi was down, and my phone had zero bars inside their concrete bunker of an office. Ended up doing the "hold your phone up high and wave it around" dance trying to get a signal. Now, I'm old-school—paper copies in glovebox and screenshots saved offline. Digital convenience is great until it's not...
