Can't argue there, though I usually prefer handling things myself—especially with my vintage cars. Curious, did your agent explain if classic vehicle coverage differs significantly in South Dakota? I've heard mixed things...

I've been wondering about this too, actually. From what I've gathered (and I'm no expert, just did some digging when my uncle got his '68 Mustang insured), classic car coverage in South Dakota isn't drastically different from other states, but there are a few quirks. For instance, some insurers here seem pretty strict about mileage limits and storage conditions—like insisting on a locked garage or something similar. My uncle had to send photos of his garage setup before they'd finalize coverage.

Also, the agreed-value policy seems pretty common here, which is good news if you've put a lot of work into your vintage ride. But I've heard mixed stories about how flexible insurers are with modifications or restorations. Some folks say their agents were super chill about it, others had to jump through hoops to document every little upgrade.

Might be worth chatting directly with a local agent who specializes in classics, just to clear things up. Could save you some headaches down the road...

Gotta disagree slightly on the mileage limits being strict across the board. I've insured a couple of classics here in SD, and honestly, it depends heavily on the insurer. My current policy has pretty generous mileage allowances—way more than I'd realistically drive anyway—and they weren't overly picky about my garage setup either. Best bet is to shop around a bit; don't settle for the first quote you get.

Lucky you... but honestly, my experience was totally different. When I was shopping around last year, every insurer I talked to seemed obsessed with mileage limits and garage security. One even asked for photos of my garage door locks—seriously. Maybe it's because my classic isn't exactly showroom condition, but still, felt like jumping through hoops. Definitely pays to shop around, but don't expect everyone to be as chill as your insurer.

Yeah, insurers can be weirdly inconsistent with stuff like this. Maybe it's just luck of the draw? Glad you found one that's reasonable though... makes life easier when they're not nitpicking every detail. Did they ask you anything unusual at all?
