How much does adding a newly licensed teen change an SC premium?
When a newly licensed teen is added to a South Carolina policy, does the insurer usually rate them on one specific car or factor them across the household’s vehicles? I’m curious how much that choice can affect the total premium.
For a fair comparison, would you ask for quotes with the same liability limits and deductibles, then check whether good-student or driver-training discounts apply? I’d like to hear what questions helped make the quotes easier to compare, without assuming any one discount or rating setup is available everywhere.

The difference can’t be estimated reliably from “one car versus the household” alone; insurers’ rating rules and the household’s details matter. Ask each insurer to price both setups if it allows both, and compare the total policy premium. The teen’s listed-car premium by itself may not show the full effect.
