Are those price-checker sites actually reliable?

Yeah, I hear you—those “all-in” filters help, but I still get tripped up by random fees sometimes. Last time I booked a hotel, the price jumped at checkout because of some “resort fee” I didn’t even want. Feels like you need a calculator and a magnifying glass just to book a room these days. I’ll use the sites for a quick scan, but I always double-check direct too. Just less hassle if something goes sideways.

Totally get that. Last summer, I thought I’d scored a deal for a family road trip—site said $120 a night, but by the time I hit “confirm,” it was closer to $170 with all the random add-ons. Parking wasn’t even included, which is wild when you’re driving everywhere. I’ve started calling hotels directly, just to see if they’ll match or beat the online price. Sometimes they do, sometimes not, but at least you know what you’re getting into. Those “all-in” filters help, but they’re never the whole story.
