Are those price-checker sites actually reliable?

I've been trying to buy a new laptop lately, and honestly, I'm drowning in options. Every time I think I've found the best deal, another site pops up claiming it can find something cheaper or better. You know those websites that promise to compare prices across like 50 different stores? Yeah, those.

Thing is, sometimes they seem legit, but other times I get the feeling they're just pushing certain brands or stores. Like yesterday, one site recommended a laptop at a great price, but when I clicked through, the actual store had it listed way higher. Um... sketchy much?

I'm curious if anyone else has had good (or bad) experiences with these comparison sites. Are they usually accurate or am I better off just manually checking each store myself?

I've noticed similar discrepancies myself. Those comparison sites can be useful as a starting point, but I wouldn't rely solely on them. Always double-check directly with the retailer before making any decisions—better safe than sorry.

Yeah, learned that the hard way myself. Once saw a great deal on tires through one of those sites, but when I called the shop directly, turns out the price was outdated by weeks... Always worth double-checking before trusting those numbers.

Yeah, been there myself. Those sites can be handy as a starting point, but I wouldn't rely on them alone. Prices fluctuate constantly, especially for stuff like tires or car parts... always safer to make a quick call first and confirm directly.

Agree with the above—those sites are decent for initial research. When buying tires last year, the price-checker showed a good deal, but the shop had extra fees. Always worth double-checking directly before committing.
