I'm with you on the peace of mind thing. Learned that lesson the hard way when a rogue shopping cart decided to redecorate my car door—still hurts thinking about it, lol. For me, it's:

- Higher coverage, hands down. Luxury car parts = luxury repair bills.
- Slightly higher monthly premium is way easier to swallow than a surprise $3K bill.
- Plus, I sleep better knowing I'm covered against life's random curveballs.

Curious though, anyone here ever regretted going for higher coverage? Like...felt you paid extra for no real reason?

Funny you mention that—I once downgraded coverage thinking I'd save a few bucks, and then a week later, a pothole decided my rim needed a makeover. Lesson learned: luxury wheels have expensive taste. Higher coverage ever since.

Haha, luxury wheels definitely have expensive taste... noted. I'm actually in the middle of picking my first insurance plan right now, and honestly, stories like yours make me lean toward higher coverage. Sure, paying extra might sting a little each month, but I'd rather deal with that than the surprise pothole makeover bill. Peace of mind seems worth it, at least for a newbie like me.

I get the appeal of higher coverage, especially if you're new to driving or have a pricier ride. But personally, I've always gone for something in the middle—decent coverage without breaking the bank. Last year, I hit a nasty pothole and bent my rim pretty bad. Thankfully, my mid-tier plan covered most of it, minus a manageable deductible. Sure, paying out-of-pocket stung a bit, but it was way less painful than shelling out for premium coverage every month. Guess it depends on your comfort level and how much risk you're willing to tolerate. For me, finding that sweet spot between cost and peace of mind has worked out pretty well so far... knock on wood.

I've always leaned toward the lower end of mid-tier coverage myself—enough to keep me from panicking, but not so much that I'm throwing money away each month. Had a minor fender bender a couple years back; nothing serious, but enough to leave some ugly scratches and dents. My deductible was manageable, and the insurance covered most of the repair. Sure, paying that deductible wasn't fun, but compared to all the cash I saved by not going premium over the years, it felt like a win. Like you said, it's all about balancing cost and comfort level. I just prefer having a little cushion without going overboard... guess I'm cautiously optimistic like that.
