The “perks” are usually just a distraction. I’d rather have a few extra bucks in my pocket than a latte I’ll forget about in a week.

I get where you’re coming from, but I’ve actually seen some folks get real value out of those perks—especially if they use them regularly. Sometimes, the little extras like movie tickets or coffee can tip the scales when two policies are otherwise pretty similar. Not saying it should be the main reason to switch, but for some, it’s a nice bonus on top of solid coverage. Guess it depends on what matters most to you day-to-day.

I hear you on the “perks” being a distraction, but as someone who’s stuck in traffic more often than I’d like, I’ll admit those free coffees have saved my morning more than once. Like you said,

“it’s a nice bonus on top of solid coverage.”
If the price and coverage are neck and neck, I won’t say no to a few free cappuccinos. It’s not a dealbreaker, but it does sweeten the ride—literally.

I get the appeal—free coffee is hard to turn down, especially if you’re already paying for coverage. But do you ever worry those perks are just masking higher premiums somewhere else? I always wonder if I’m actually saving in the long run or just getting distracted by the freebies.

Honestly, I get where you're coming from, but sometimes those little extras do actually add up for me. I mean, if I'm going to pay about the same no matter where I go, I'd rather get a free cappuccino once in a while than nothing at all. I always compare quotes every renewal anyway—if the price jumps way up, a free movie ticket isn’t going to keep me around. But a few perks here and there? Not the worst thing.

Title: Would you stick with your insurer for free coffee or movie tickets?

I get the appeal of those little extras, but honestly, I’m not sure they really tip the scales for me. Last year, I did a 2-week road trip across the country and had to deal with a flat in the middle of nowhere—what mattered most was how fast my insurer got roadside help out there. Perks like free coffee are nice, but when you’re stranded at midnight outside Amarillo, it’s the actual service that counts.

That said, I won’t turn down a free cappuccino if it’s on offer. I’ve used those “loyalty” rewards before—grabbed a couple of movie tickets when I was stuck in a hotel during a rain delay. Didn’t change my opinion about the company much, but hey, it killed some time.

I do get what you mean about comparing quotes every renewal. I do the same thing—spreadsheet and all. If prices are close and coverage is solid, then yeah, maybe those perks are a tiebreaker. But if there’s a big price jump? No amount of free lattes is going to make up for that.

Guess for me it comes down to reliability first, price second, and perks are just...whatever’s left over. Maybe that’s just because I spend more time worrying about breakdowns than missing out on coffee deals.
