Which is better for SR-22 in ND: local agents or online companies?

Honestly, I’ve seen way too many people get burned by online companies when it comes to SR-22s. The rates look sweet until you actually need help, then suddenly it’s like yelling into the void. With local agents, yeah, you might pay a bit more, but at least you know who to call if something goes sideways. I’d rather pay a few extra bucks than risk being stuck in limbo if there’s a paperwork hiccup. Maybe I’m just old school, but peace of mind is worth it for me.

Had a similar experience when I had to file an SR-22 after a not-so-great year. Tried one of those online companies because the price was tempting, but when the DMV needed some extra paperwork, I couldn't get a straight answer from anyone. Ended up switching to a local agent who handled everything in one call. Maybe it costs a bit more, but honestly, not having to chase people down is worth it—especially when you’re juggling work and family stuff.

Honestly, I’ve seen both sides of this coin. I get why online companies look good on paper—cheaper rates, quick sign-ups, all that jazz. But when it comes to SR-22s, the red tape is no joke. Had a client last year who went with an online-only provider and got stuck in DMV limbo for weeks. Ended up paying more in late fees than he saved on premiums. Sometimes, having someone local who actually picks up the phone pays for itself... especially when the paperwork gets weird or you need answers fast.

I’ve been looking into this myself and honestly, the “cheaper rates, quick sign-ups” part is tempting. But hearing about folks getting stuck in DMV limbo with online companies makes me nervous.

Has anyone had a local agent actually help speed things up with the DMV? Or is it just less hassle overall? I’m trying to figure out if the extra cost is really worth it or if it’s just peace of mind.

Honestly, I've seen local agents mess things up too. Had a guy swear his agent would “handle everything” and he still got a DMV suspension notice because the paperwork sat on someone's desk. Sometimes the extra cost is just for hand-holding, not actual speed. If you’re organized, online isn’t always a nightmare.
