I've gotta disagree a bit here. Sure, big insurers have slick apps, but honestly, how often do you actually use them? I switched to a smaller local insurer last year after my old company left me on hold for ages during a roadside emergency (middle of nowhere, NC—fun times...). The new guys might not have the fanciest tech, but when I call, someone picks up right away. I'll take that over flashy apps any day.

Fair point, but how often do you actually need to call your insurer? I've been with both big and small companies, and honestly, the real question for me is always: who's giving me the best coverage for the lowest price? Fancy apps are nice, sure, but I'd rather save a few bucks each month. And roadside assistance... isn't that what AAA is for anyway?

Good point about AAA, I've had them for years and they've saved me more than once. But honestly, having someone pick up right away when you're stressed after an accident or a breakdown can be a lifesaver. I remember once waiting forever on hold with a big insurer after a fender-bender—it just added to the frustration. So yeah, price matters, but don't underestimate the peace of mind from quick, personal service... especially if you're already considered a risky driver in NC.

Yeah, I've seen this happen a lot, unfortunately. Big insurers often have great rates, but when you're already stressed out after an accident, being stuck on hold is the last thing you need. I've had clients switch to smaller local agencies precisely because they wanted someone who knew their name and situation. If you're considered higher-risk in NC, sometimes local agents can even help find specialized coverage that big names overlook. Worth considering...

Ugh, being stuck on hold after an accident is the absolute worst. Ever notice how the hold music always seems extra cheerful when you're already annoyed? 😂 But seriously, smaller agencies can be a lifesaver sometimes. Had a buddy who switched after his second accident—said it was night and day difference just having someone local who actually remembered him. Might not always be cheaper, but sometimes sanity is worth a few extra bucks...
