stuck between Geico and Progressive in NY, thoughts?

Had a similar experience with Progressive after a speeding ticket—my rates did jump, but honestly nowhere near as dramatically as Geico's. I switched from Geico after they practically doubled my premium for one minor infraction. Progressive seems a bit more forgiving, at least in my case. Still, insurance companies are unpredictable beasts... might be worth running some hypothetical quotes online to see how each handles tickets before committing.

I've been considering Progressive too, but does anyone know if they tend to hike rates later on after the first renewal? I've heard some insurers start off reasonable and then quietly bump up premiums over time. Also, does anyone have experience with how either Geico or Progressive handle accident forgiveness—worth paying extra for that option, or is it mostly marketing hype? Just trying to avoid surprises down the road...

Yeah, Progressive can sometimes raise rates after the first renewal, especially if you've had claims or tickets. Accident forgiveness is legit though—worth it if you're worried about your record. Geico's similar, but check fine print carefully...

I've noticed the same thing with Geico—started off great, but after a minor fender-bender, my rates crept up noticeably. Maybe it's just standard practice across insurers... anyone found a company that doesn't do this as much?

Had a similar experience with Progressive a couple years back. Started out fine, but after a minor scrape in a parking lot (wasn't even my fault!), rates still jumped up. Makes me wonder if any insurer actually overlooks small incidents these days or if it's just standard practice. Curious if anyone's had luck with smaller, local insurance companies instead of the big names—maybe they're more forgiving?
