Why I was surprised to learn Nebraska requires uninsured motorist coverage

Honestly, the “full coverage” label trips up a lot of folks. It’s not as all-encompassing as it sounds—there are always gaps. But about those payout hoops in Nebraska, I get the frustration, but sometimes the process weeds out fraud. Seen too many folks try to game the system, especially with hit-and-runs. Not saying it’s perfect, but there’s a reason for the red tape... even if it makes you want to pull your hair out.

Yeah, “full coverage” is one of those terms that sounds way more comforting than it actually is. I learned that the hard way after a fender bender outside Kearney—thought I was golden, but nope, still had to cough up for stuff I assumed was covered. Nebraska’s hoops are a pain, but I get why they’re there. Still, when you’re on a tight road trip budget and just want to get back on the highway, all that paperwork feels like a cruel joke.
