Man, I get what you’re saying about thinking you’re covered and then getting blindsided by the fine print. I’ve had my share of tickets and “incidents,” so my rates are already through the roof. You’d think for what we pay, they’d just handle everything, but nope—there’s always some loophole or limit hiding in the paperwork. I learned about the whole “uninsured motorist doesn’t fix your car” thing after a hit-and-run in a parking lot. Thought I was good, but ended up paying out of pocket for the repairs since I didn’t have collision at the time.

It’s wild how easy it is to assume you’re protected until you really need it. The lost wages thing is a big deal too—nobody explains that upfront. I used to roll my eyes at all the extra add-ons, but after getting burned once or twice, I just bite the bullet and pay for better coverage now. Yeah, it sucks seeing that premium every month, but it’s way less painful than dealing with surprises after an accident.

Insurance really does feel like a maze sometimes... Glad you figured it out before things got even worse.

Honestly, I get being cautious after getting burned, but all those extra coverages can be overkill. I’ve got three classics and just stick to liability—never had an issue. Sometimes it feels like insurance is just a racket milking us for “what ifs.” If you drive smart and keep your head on a swivel, you shouldn’t need half that stuff.

I get where you're coming from—liability covers a lot, and if you've never needed more, it's easy to wonder if the extras are worth it. But after my neighbor's Porsche got sideswiped by an uninsured driver last year, I started seeing those "what ifs" differently. Even careful drivers can't control every variable. For me, knowing my investment is protected just offers peace of mind... especially with how unpredictable people can be out there.

I used to think, “Hey, I’m a careful driver. Why pay extra for stuff I’ll never use?” Then my minivan got rear-ended in a grocery store parking lot by someone who apparently thought “insurance” was just a suggestion. Step one: panic. Step two: realize the other guy has no coverage. Step three: remember I actually have uninsured motorist coverage because my agent insisted on it (I may have rolled my eyes at the time).

Honestly, I never thought I’d need it, but now I’m grateful Nebraska makes you carry it. It’s like that awkward first-aid kit in the trunk—I hope it just gathers dust, but when things go sideways, you’re glad it’s there. With three kids and a dog who thinks he owns the backseat, I’m not taking chances with repairs or medical bills if someone else drops the ball. Maybe it’s not glamorous, but neither is arguing with a stranger in a parking lot about their “friend’s” car insurance...

Honestly, you nailed it—most people don’t realize how many drivers out there are uninsured until it happens to them. It’s not about being a bad driver, it’s about protecting yourself from the ones who aren’t paying attention or just don’t care. That coverage saves a lot of headaches... and paperwork.
