Interesting points here, but honestly, I've seen some weird stuff over the years that makes me wonder how insurers really crunch those numbers. A few years back, I moved from a busy city area to a quiet suburb—figured my rates would drop significantly. Nope, barely budged. Then, about a year later, I got a speeding ticket (first one in ages, I swear...) and my premium jumped noticeably. So yeah, driving record definitely seems to carry more weight.

But here's the kicker: my brother-in-law lives in a rural area with hardly any traffic, spotless record, and yet his rates aren't much lower than mine. Makes me wonder if insurers sometimes lump certain regions together, regardless of how safe your particular neighborhood is. Maybe it's not just city vs. rural, but something more nuanced like local claims history or even weather patterns? Who knows... insurance math is a mysterious beast.

Yeah, insurance math really is a head-scratcher sometimes... I had a similar experience when I moved neighborhoods—expected a decent rate drop, but barely noticed any difference. Makes me think maybe insurers look at things like theft rates or even how many claims come from your ZIP code? Could explain why your brother-in-law isn't seeing much benefit from living rural. Either way, your driving record definitely seems to have the biggest impact, so at least that's something we can kinda control, right?

Yeah, insurance companies definitely seem to factor in ZIP code stats like theft or accident rates—makes sense they'd want to cover their bases. But honestly, from my experience with classic cars, your driving record is still king. I've seen friends move out to quieter towns expecting big savings, only to find it's barely noticeable. At least keeping a clean record is something we can manage ourselves... right? Hang in there though, insurance math has baffled smarter folks than us!

You're spot on about driving records, but ZIP codes can swing things more than you'd think. Had a guy once who moved literally two streets over—same town, same everything—and his premium jumped noticeably. Insurance logic at its finest... go figure.

Happened to me too. Moved just across town—still safe neighborhood, same driving habits—but premium went up anyway. Agent said it's about accident stats in that ZIP code... honestly makes you wonder if cautious driving even counts as much as we'd hope. Guess insurance has its own logic sometimes.
