I'm kinda stuck between Progressive and Geico right now. Progressive gave me a pretty decent quote, but Geico came in slightly cheaper. I've heard mixed things about both, though—like Progressive's customer service being hit or miss, and Geico sometimes raising rates after the first renewal. Um, anyone have experience with either of these two in Minnesota? Curious which you'd pick and why.

I've had both Progressive and Geico here in MN, and honestly, I'd lean toward Progressive even if they're a few bucks more. Yeah, Geico might lure you in with that cheaper initial quote, but trust me—after the first renewal, they tend to bump it up quite a bit. Happened to me and a couple friends too. Not saying they're terrible or anything, just something to watch out for.

Progressive's customer service can indeed be hit or miss (like most insurance companies tbh), but when I had an accident last winter (thanks, icy roads 🙄), they handled it pretty smoothly. No major headaches or endless phone calls, which was a relief because dealing with car repairs is stressful enough already.

One thing I'd suggest is checking out their apps too. Progressive's app is actually pretty decent—easy to use and straightforward if you need roadside assistance or filing a claim. Geico's wasn't bad either, but I found Progressive's interface simpler overall.

Also, random tip: whichever you pick, definitely ask about discounts for stuff like good grades (if you're still in school), safe driving programs, or bundling policies. Those can really add up and save you more than you'd think.

Bottom line: If you're looking purely at price right now, Geico might seem tempting—but long-term stability and fewer surprises down the road make Progressive worth the extra few bucks imo. Good luck deciding...insurance shopping is always such a joy 😂
