Title: How I managed to stack discounts for military student drivers

Curious, has anyone actually gotten two discounts to stack by escalating or talking to a supervisor? Or is it just luck of the draw with who you get on the phone?

Honestly, it’s mostly luck. Sometimes you get a rep who just wants to move things along and they’ll push it through, other times they stick to the script no matter what. Keeping receipts and screenshots is smart—saved me more than once when they tried to backtrack. Don’t let them wear you down. If you’ve got proof, stand your ground.

Stacking discounts definitely isn’t a guarantee, but there’s actually a bit of strategy to it. I’ve had the best luck when I call in with all my docs ready—military ID, student transcript, whatever they ask for. If the first rep says no, I’ll politely ask if there’s a supervisor or a “loyalty department” (sometimes they call it something else) who can review it. Not everyone is strict about the rules, especially if you’re clear and have your info sorted. It’s not just luck, but persistence and having your paperwork in order helps a ton.

That’s the way to do it, but honestly, sometimes these reps just make up rules as they go. I’ve had them flat-out deny stacking even when their own website said it was possible. Ever tried showing them their own policy in writing? Curious if that’s worked for you or if they just dig in their heels.

Honestly, I’ve tried pointing out their own policy before and half the time they just double down or give me some excuse about “system limitations.” It’s like they’re trained to stonewall. I’ve found it works better to just hang up and call back—sometimes you get someone who actually knows what they’re doing. Not worth arguing with a brick wall, in my experience.

Yeah, I’ve totally been there. Sometimes you get someone who’s just reading from a script and won’t budge, no matter what you say. I’ve had better luck just hanging up and trying again too. One time I called three times in a row before I found someone who actually knew about the commuter discount—felt like winning the lottery, honestly. It’s wild how much it depends on who picks up.
