"Curious though, has anyone here actually had dashcam footage save them from a messy insurance battle?"
Funny you mention that—I was rear-ended last year at a stoplight, and the guy tried claiming I reversed into him (seriously?). Luckily, my trusty dashcam caught the whole thing. Sent the footage to insurance, and suddenly his story changed real quick. Complacency? Nah... more like sweet vindication. Still grip the wheel like I'm piloting a spaceship through an asteroid field though—dashcam or not, people out there drive wild.
That's interesting, I've been debating getting a dashcam myself. Did your insurance give you any hassle about accepting the footage, or was it pretty straightforward? Seems like it'd be worth the investment just for peace of mind...

Couldn't agree more. I got a dashcam after some genius backed into me and tried to say I rear-ended him. Insurance took one look at the footage—no questions asked. Step 1: buy dashcam. Step 2: avoid headaches. Step 3: profit...?
Dashcams definitely make my job a lot easier, haha. You'd be surprised how often people "remember" accidents differently once insurance gets involved. Footage clears things up real quick—no more he-said-she-said headaches. Plus, some insurers even offer discounts if you have one installed (worth checking out). Peace of mind and maybe saving a few bucks? Sounds like a win-win to me...
Dashcams sound good in theory, but I'm still on the fence about getting one myself. Had a minor fender-bender last year—other driver swore I was at fault, but luckily a bystander backed me up. Still, it was stressful dealing with insurance without solid proof. Maybe a dashcam would've saved me some hassle...but I'm not convinced yet it's worth the upfront cost and setup hassle. Guess I'll reconsider if my insurer offers a decent discount.
