The cable bill thing gets me every time... I don’t even get paper bills for anything anymore, it’s all online. Last time they wanted something with my “physical address” printed, but my bank statements only show a PO box. Ended up digging out an old Amazon package with my name and address just in case. Has anyone actually had luck with a printout from an online account, or do they always want the original?

Yeah, I ran into the same thing at the RMV. I printed out a utility bill from my online account and they actually took it, but the lady kinda squinted at it for a while. Guess it depends who you get... I’ve heard some folks got turned away for the same thing. The Amazon box idea is pretty clever though—never thought of that.

Seriously, it’s like playing RMV roulette. I brought in a printed bank statement once—looked official to me—but the guy barely glanced at it and just stamped my form. Meanwhile, my friend got sent home for having a phone bill printout. The Amazon box trick is wild though… never would’ve thought of using packaging as proof of address. Might keep that in mind if I ever move again.

That’s honestly the best way to put it. I’ve had one person scrutinize every line on my lease, then the next time they barely even looked at my ID. The Amazon box thing is hilarious, but I’d be nervous to try it—feels like the kind of move that works once in a blue moon. Still, with how random they are, maybe it’s worth a shot if you’re desperate.

Yeah, I’ve noticed the same thing—total crapshoot every time. One visit, they want every scrap of documentation I own, the next it’s like, “Cool, here’s your sticker.” The Amazon box trick cracks me up but I’m way too paranoid to try it myself. I always assume my luck would run out right when they decide to actually check everything. Just easier to over-prepare and hope for the best, honestly.
