If you ever lose your car or it gets broken into, that’s two sets of personal info out there. Maybe I’m just paranoid about identity theft, but I’d rather risk a faded card than have my info ...

Yeah, I get what you mean about not wanting your info in the glovebox. I used to keep a copy there but after hearing about break-ins, I just stick with the original in my wallet too. Honestly, if it fades, I'll just print another one at the library for like 10 cents. Not worth the risk for me.

I get the concern about your info being in the glovebox, but honestly, I feel like if someone’s breaking into my car, they’re after stuff they can sell quick, not my registration. Plus, if you ever get pulled over and can’t find your card because it’s in your wallet at home or something, that’s a hassle too. I just keep a copy in the glovebox and black out anything that’s not required. Feels like a decent middle ground...

I get where you’re coming from, but I always wonder—what if someone does take the registration and then uses my address for something shady? Maybe I’m just paranoid, but it bugs me. I’ve heard stories about people using that info for ID theft or even to scope out your house. I keep a digital copy on my phone just in case, but I do still stash the original in the glovebox... just feels like there’s no perfect answer. Anyone else get weirdly anxious about this stuff, or is it just me overthinking?

Honestly, I get where you’re coming from. I’ve had the same worries, especially after hearing about break-ins where people grab the registration and then know exactly where you live. It’s not just paranoia—stuff like that does happen, even if it’s rare. I still keep mine in the glovebox too, but I try to hide it under a bunch of random papers so it’s not obvious. The digital copy is smart, but I always wonder if a cop would accept it if I ever got pulled over.

It’s tough because you’re supposed to have the original handy, but then you’re basically handing out your address if someone breaks in. There’s no perfect answer, like you said. I think being a little anxious about it just means you’re paying attention. Better to be cautious than regret it later.

Honestly, I get the concern about someone finding your address if they swipe your registration, but I’ve seen more issues pop up when folks don’t have the original on hand during a traffic stop. MA cops usually want to see the actual paper, and I’ve had clients get ticketed for just having a photo or digital copy. Hiding it under papers is better than nothing, but if you ever need it fast, it can be a pain digging around. It’s kind of a lose-lose, but I lean toward following the letter of the law, even if it feels a bit risky.
