Occasional trailer trips and a Maine auto quote
If someone occasionally tows a utility trailer for personal errands, is that something they should specifically mention when getting a Maine auto-insurance quote, even if the car itself is still used for ordinary personal driving?
I’m curious whether the answer changes if the trailer is borrowed rather than owned, or if the trips are for paid work instead of personal projects. And if a trailer causes damage, does liability coverage generally follow the towing vehicle, while damage to the trailer itself may need separate coverage? I’d rather know what questions to ask than assume the car policy handles both.

The personal-errand versus paid-work distinction is worth raising directly when you get the quote. Ask whether occasional towing is covered only for personal use, or also when a trip is connected to paid work; how often it happens doesn’t by itself make it personal use. That could affect what coverage the insurer offers and what it costs.
Since the trailer might be borrowed, ask the insurer specifically whether your auto policy covers liability while towing it, and whether that depends on the owner’s insurance. I wouldn’t assume the same rules apply to every trailer; the insurer can clarify which policy would respond.
