That’s pretty much where I landed too—peace of mind just feels better, especially when you’re not sitting on a big emergency fund. I keep thinking about this part:

“accidents happen even when you’re careful.”
It’s wild how true that is. Out of curiosity, did you look into what your deductible would be if you went with full coverage? I’m finding the lower deductible really bumps up the premium, but the higher one makes me nervous.

I totally get what you mean about the deductible dilemma. When I was shopping around, I noticed the same thing—lower deductible, way higher premium, but a higher deductible just made me nervous about having to cough up a big chunk if something actually happened. Did you run the numbers on how much you'd save over a year or two with the higher deductible versus what you’d have to pay out of pocket in an accident? I keep wondering if it’s better to risk a big one-time payment or just pay more each month for the peace of mind...

Honestly, that's where I'm stuck too. Paying more every month feels like money down the drain if I never use it, but that "surprise" huge bill if something goes wrong... yikes. I tried to crunch the numbers but my brain started to melt. Maybe I’m just cheap, but I kinda lean toward saving now and hoping for the best. Not sure if that’s smart or just wishful thinking.

I get where you’re coming from, but honestly, I’ve seen too many friends get burned by “hoping for the best.” One deer jumps out or some distracted driver rear-ends you, and suddenly that “savings” is gone in a flash. I used to think I was overpaying for full coverage, but after a hailstorm totaled my old Civic, I was glad I had it. Peace of mind isn’t just about the money—it’s about not having to stress every time something unexpected happens. Maybe it feels like a waste if nothing goes wrong, but when it does, you’ll be glad you paid up front.

- Totally agree—people often underestimate how fast repair costs add up.
- Full coverage isn’t just about your car, either. It can help with rental reimbursement, glass replacement, and even roadside assistance depending on the policy.
- Liability’s fine if your car’s not worth much, but if you’d struggle to replace it out-of-pocket, full coverage is usually worth a second look.
- Seen too many folks regret going barebones after a single accident... sometimes it’s just not worth the gamble.
