What’s the yearly cost of adding collision and comprehensive?

When comparing liability-only with collision and comprehensive, how do you tell whether the extra premium is worthwhile once the deductibles and the car’s value are factored in? “Full coverage” can mean different things, so I’d want quotes with the same liability limits and driver details, then compare the collision and comprehensive costs and deductibles separately.

If the car were totaled or stolen, the payout could be limited by its value and reduced by the relevant deductible. Is there a useful way to weigh that against the annual added cost, especially when replacing the car out of pocket might be difficult?

Difficulty replacing the car matters even if the math looks unfavorable on average. The payout is limited, but a sudden total loss could still be a serious cash-flow hit; if you couldn’t replace the car without borrowing, the added premium may be worth paying for that protection. If you could absorb the loss, the case for keeping the coverage is weaker.
