Those gadgets must think we’re all driving on empty city streets, not dodging wildlife and tractors.
- Preach. Trackers are a joke out here—mine flagged me for “harsh braking” because a turkey flew into the road.
- Rates after 65? Total ripoff. I’ve had two fender benders, but nothing wild. Still get hammered.
- Swapping agents helps a bit, but yeah, it’s a pain. They all act like you’re suddenly dangerous once you hit that age bracket.
- Hang in there. You’re definitely not the only one getting squeezed by these companies.

That’s exactly it. Those things don’t know the difference between dodging deer and texting while driving. I switched to one of those “safe driver” programs and ended up paying more, just because I live on gravel roads where you have to slow down quick for all kinds of surprises. It’s like they think Kansas is all highways... If you find a company that actually gets rural driving, let us know.

Right? I got dinged for “aggressive acceleration” just trying to merge onto the main road from a muddy driveway. These trackers don’t get rural life at all. I tried shopping around but every company seems to use the same tech now. Guess we’re supposed to just never leave the house if we want a discount...
Those trackers are a joke out here. I’ve had mine ding me for “hard braking” when a deer jumped out—what else am I supposed to do, just hit it? Honestly, I think whoever designed these things never drove a gravel road in their life. Hang in there, you’re not the only one getting penalized for just driving normal in the country.
I get the frustration, but I’ve actually seen my rates drop a bit since using the tracker—guess it depends on the company and maybe luck with the algorithm. I drive a lot of highway and city, though, not much gravel. Maybe these things just aren’t built for rural life? Still, I’d rather deal with a few dings than another rate hike... but yeah, dodging deer shouldn’t count against you.
