Dashcams are handy, sure, but honestly even perfect placement won't always save you. Had a buddy with crystal-clear footage and insurance still dragged their feet. Illinois regs don't help either—feels like they're designed to keep us confused...

Dashcams definitely aren't a magic bullet, that's for sure. A few thoughts from my own experience:

- Had a similar situation a couple years back—dashcam footage was clear as day, but insurance still took forever. They kept asking for more details, more angles... felt like they were just stalling.
- Illinois insurance rules are notoriously tricky. Seems like every time I think I've got them figured out, something new pops up. Especially when it comes to classic cars—coverage gets even murkier.
- Speaking of classics, anyone here ever had to deal with insurance claims involving vintage or collector vehicles? I've heard some horror stories about insurers undervaluing cars or dragging their feet even more than usual because of the age and rarity factor.
- Honestly, makes me wonder if specialized classic car insurance is worth the extra cost. I've been cautious about switching over, but maybe it's time to reconsider...

Curious if anyone's had better luck navigating Illinois regs with specialty insurance providers or if it's just more of the same headaches.

I'm pretty new to the whole insurance thing myself, but your experience sounds frustratingly familiar. A couple quick thoughts from someone who's been researching this stuff lately:

- Dashcams seem helpful in theory, but from what I've read (and your story confirms it), insurers can still drag their feet. It's like they always find some loophole or reason to delay things, even with clear footage.

- Illinois rules are definitely confusing. I've spent hours trying to decode the fine print and still feel like I'm missing something important. Can't imagine how much trickier it gets when you're dealing with classic cars and their unique valuations.

- About specialized classic car insurance—I've heard mixed things. Some people swear by it because the providers supposedly understand vintage vehicles better and offer agreed-value coverage. But others say it's just another layer of complexity and cost without much real benefit. I guess it depends on how valuable or rare your car is?

- One thing I noticed while shopping around is that specialty insurers sometimes have stricter usage limits (like mileage caps or storage requirements). So if you drive your classic regularly, that might be something to watch out for.

Anyway, just wanted to say you're definitely not alone in feeling overwhelmed by all this. Insurance seems designed to be confusing no matter what state you're in...but Illinois does seem especially tricky from everything I've seen so far. Good luck figuring it out—I hope you find a solution that doesn't break the bank or drive you crazy in the process.

Yeah, had a similar experience last year—dashcam footage clearly showed the other driver at fault, but my insurer still took weeks to process. Makes you wonder if they're intentionally slow-walking claims...

Had a similar thing happen when I was still learning to drive (well, technically still am, lol). My instructor had a dashcam running, and we got rear-ended at a stoplight. Footage clearly showed the other guy texting right before impact—should've been open-and-shut, right? Nope. Took forever for insurance to sort it out. At this point, I'm convinced insurers just enjoy making us sweat...
