"Curious though... has anyone here actually had to use their gap coverage after an accident? Would love to hear if it was smooth sailing or a headache dealing with claims."
Had to use mine a couple years back after sliding off an icy road near Coeur d'Alene. Honestly, the claim process wasn't terrible, but it did take longer than expectedβlots of paperwork and back-and-forth calls. Glad I had it, though... saved me from paying out-of-pocket.
Had a similar experience near Boise last winterβblack ice is no joke. Gap coverage was a lifesaver, but yeah, brace yourself for the paperwork shuffle. Still beats paying the difference yourself though... hang in there, it'll work out eventually.

Is the paperwork really that bad? Just got gap coverage myself (first time dealing with insurance), and now I'm wondering if I should mentally prepare for a bureaucratic nightmare. Also, does it typically cover everything, or are there hidden exceptions I should watch out for? Black ice around here is brutal enough without surprise bills...
