My dog just stares at me like I’ve lost it while I’m crouched down snapping pics from every angle...

That cracked me up—my neighbor’s cat once photobombed my bumper damage pics, and the adjuster actually commented on it. But yeah, the photo quality thing can be legit, though sometimes it feels like a stall. I’ve seen claims delayed for “unclear images,” but outright rejection is rare unless the pics are really unusable. Still, it’s frustrating how subjective it all is. You’d think with today’s phone cameras, it wouldn’t be such a big deal.

I totally get what you mean about the subjectivity. I once had to resubmit photos three times because there was a shadow on my fender. Felt like overkill, honestly. With phone cameras being so good, you'd think it wouldn't be that hard, but apparently even a tree branch in the background can cause issues.

I hear you on the nitpicking. Last time I filed a claim, they actually asked me to retake pics because my license plate was “too reflective.” I mean, what am I supposed to do—wait for a cloudy day? Ever had them ask for something totally random like that?

Yeah, I’ve had them ask for stuff that made me scratch my head too. Once, they wanted a photo of the VIN, but it had to be “from a specific angle” to avoid glare. I get that they need clear documentation, but sometimes it feels like they’re just looking for reasons to delay things. On the other hand, I can see why they’re strict—fraud’s a real issue. Still, there’s got to be a middle ground between thorough and just plain picky.

That’s honestly wild about the VIN photo. I get that they want to be careful, but sometimes it feels like they’re making it harder than it needs to be. I had a similar thing where they wanted a close-up of a scratch, but only if the car was in “natural daylight.” Like, what if you work late or it’s raining? Still, I guess it’s better than them just waving things through and missing something important. It’s just tough when you’re already stressed from the accident and then have to jump through all these hoops.
